Fabulous! I am so jealous of you, having a nest of bee eaters next to your garden! That's paradise! Good for you! Enjoy it!

Re: Abelharuco
I should add that my backyard in Alentejo is not bad either! From my backyard this past weekend I could see one eagle (not sure which one), several vultures (not sure if they were black vultures or griffons), dozens of bee eaters passing by several times during the day and many other passerines. So I really cannot complain, I have to admit :-)

Re: Abelharuco
Many thanks to all for your comments. It is, indeed, an honor to have these birds actually nesting on my land. I hope that when they become used to my presence I will be able to get even better images with my 500mm lens.
Obrigado,
Colin

Uau! What a great shot and what a great "gift" having those birds nesting in your garden Congratulations!
I'm amazed with the detail of the 100-400mm + 1.4TC combo Is it the kenko pro or the canon one?

Hello Nuno,
Thank you for your comments. It was the Canon x1.4TCII which I used (and the shots were "hand-held" - no tripod). I use this converter on all three of my long lenses (100-400, 400 f/5.6 and 500 f/4) with no obvious degradation of image quality. I think I am lucky in having a good copy of the 100-400; I know some (especially older copies) are reported to be "soft", especially at 400mm.
Um abraço,
Colin
