Uma outra forma de as distinguir das Sterna hirundo que nao vem nos manuais e' - se picar muito no miolo, e' hirundo, se picar pouco ou nada, e' paradisaea...

Love the first shot Pedro, very artistic composition. It is difficult to expose correctly for these birds under such harsh light.

You are right about the light, far from decent, but I like the record of the dive bombing. A fellow birder and photographer who was on a different island would get up at 5am to capture the nice soft dawn light. I'm more into drawing them than taking shots. Still I felt this one was worth showing, for the unusual angle... (ah!, it is all fun and games until you are covered with guano...)
